Buying a Paul Reed Smith Guitar

When buying a Paul Reed Smith guitar, it’s important to remember that you do get what you pay for. Genuine, new, high-quality PRS guitars start around $2000 and can go as high as $7500 and up. PRS also produces a line of Student Edition (SE) guitars that bear the Paul Reed Smith name, but are not held to the same quality standards as the true Paul Reed Smiths. The SEs, including the Tremonti SE, are made of lower quality tone-woods and are intended to be used for beginners. The SE models usually retail for around $500-600. If you’re buying your PRS used, don’t let a dishonest seller try to overcharge you for an SE! Do a little research before purchasing. Another great idea when purchasing any guitar is to play it and get a feel for it before you buy. Test all the knobs and switches and make sure there’s no cracking or buzzing. If you take your time and don’t rush your purchase, you’ll be very happy with your new Paul Reed Smith guitar.
